Borrow Costumes (Holiday Recital Only)
As a DPPAC member perk, our studio provides costumes for all students to borrow for our holiday performance prior to holiday photograph week which is scheduled during class times the first week of November. These costumes are purchased by DPPAC and are the property thereof to use, and to pass down for our future holiday recitals. Please take special care of them, and please do not wash costumes. All costumes are cleaned once they are returned to us. The week immediately after the performance is costume return week. Please return your costume(s) in “like new” condition to DPPAC on your next scheduled class time to be signed off on. Thank you!
Important Information for Parents, Family Members & Students
As long as you have your tickets parents may sit in the auditorium prior to the show time when doors open for general admission. However, please keep your tickets readily available. You cannot enter the auditorium unless you have a ticket. Ushers will be at the doors at all times to check tickets upon audience members leaving and re-entry during the performance and intermission. Dress Rehearsals are Closed to Audience Attendance, only DPPAC Parents/Family Members that have purchased tickets for the performances are permitted.
Twinkle Star Babies and Dance Combo I & II Classes and All Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Please ensure attendance at the show in full costume and makeup one hour before show time (1/2 and hour for all 11:00 am Recital Students). All students are escorted to the stage for their dance, and escorted back to their designated class mom and table back stage in the cafeteria. During Dress Rehearsal at JFK Middle School and on the day of the show, please walk students to the table that is situated to the right of the auditorium entrance where a one of our staff members will greet you. You will need to show I.D. and sign your child in. At the end of the show you will need to show the same I.D. to sign your child out. Just to reiterate, students should come in their costume, hair and makeup done. Please no jewelry. If desired parents and students may return to the stage take pictures with the set and other cast members and dancers at the end of the performance.
Backstage Guidelines (Safety First!)
Please enter the school through the front entrance. Back entrances are locked to ensure your children’s’ safety. Unless designated as a volunteer, parents and family members are not permitted back stage, each class has a designated class parent of which you will be introduced to at the studio and during dress rehearsals that will be helping backstage to ensure students’ safety, needs and stage cues. Parents and volunteers backstage will be wearing backstage passes so you are aware and students are aware of whom those parents are. Having more people present than needed backstage causes confusion and distraction. There is a lot of wiring, microphones, headsets, scenery, stage props, etc. that need to stay intact, and quick change costumes in place. If one item is moved or misplaced that a crew member, designated parent or performer has set for a particular number, it can affect the entire show. Please note, our experience enables us to handle any upsets, nervousness, and/or stage fright, etc. if this should occur, and if necessary we can find you in the audience based on our advanced ticketing chart, should we feel it is necessary for any reason.
The Cafeteria
As indicated above, each class has a designated mom. The cafeteria is adjacent to the stage. Please pack students with something that they can do while in the cafeteria in between performance numbers. There will be a TV monitor set up backstage broadcasting the show as it is being professionally recorded. Bathrooms are adjacent to the cafeteria and all students are monitored to and from by their designated class parent to ensure their accountability. NO MARKERS, PLAYDOH, PAINT OR ANYTHING THAT CAN RUIN COSTUMES PLEASE.
You can also pack a snack limited to something that will not stain a costume. Pretzels are fine nothing that has oils, chocolate, or any other gooey-oooooozy stuff that can ruin costumes. WATER ONLY PLEASE, ABSOLUTELY NO JUICES OR SODAS, ETC…. Please use your discretion when deciding on snacks to pack. Please note that water and snacks are provided backstage for all performers.
Audience Etiquette
- 1) Please no flash photography it is a distraction to audience members and dancers. Please no recordings of the performances, once again it poses as a distraction to our audience members and dancers. Our performances are professionally recorded and DVD's will be available for purchase.
